Adding Workstations at a Corporate Head Office: Data Cabling Done Behind the Scenes

Network port and cable management under an office desk

Owl Vision Solutions handled the data cabling for an office refresh at an automotive company’s Canadian head office in the GTA: extra workstations were added, and every desk was cabled, connected and confirmed working before we left, with the wiring kept tidy and out of sight.

The job

The office was adding desk space, which means moving stations around and getting network connections to every new seat. Moving workstations can get messy fast: cables across the floor, desks that don’t connect on Monday morning, and a list of tickets for IT.

How we handled it

  • Ran data cabling to each new workstation and routed it through the desk cable management, not across the floor.
  • Connected every desk and confirmed it was fully working before we stepped away.
  • Kept the work area tidy so staff could get straight back to work.

Planning an office move or expansion?

  • Get a floor plan with the new desk layout to your cabling installer early.
  • Ask for every new run to be labelled at both ends and tested.
  • Schedule the work outside busy hours if the office can’t afford downtime.

Frequently asked questions

Can office cabling be added without disrupting staff?

Yes. The work can be scheduled around the office’s hours, and running cable under desks and through trays keeps the space tidy while people keep working.

Why test every network drop?

Testing each connection before handover confirms it works, so problems don’t show up on the day staff move in.
