What we install

Clear film on your glass

We fit the film to the windows or glass doors you want to protect. It helps keep fragments together if the glass breaks, while keeping the view clear.

Attachment to the frame

DOWSIL 995 connects the film edge to a suitable frame. We check that connection as part of the installation, along with the glass itself.

Questions before you book

What does security film do?

The film helps hold broken glass together and can help delay entry. Glass can still break. How an installation performs depends on the glass, film and frame attachment, so we do not promise a fixed break-in delay, bullet resistance or an insurance discount. Use film alongside suitable locks, lighting and alarm protection.

What film do you install?

This page is for Madico Clear 14 Mil (CL 1400 PS SR), a clear polyester film with a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a scratch-resistant surface. It is 0.014 inches thick.

Madico reports 87% visible light transmission and 99% UV rejection on 6 mm clear glass. Results vary with your glazing. This product is clear security film; it is not a dark privacy tint.

Read Madico's product information.

Why is DOWSIL 995 anchoring included?

The film holds glass fragments together. The anchoring connects the film edge to a suitable frame. We use DOWSIL 995 for that connection and include it in the prices shown here, rather than charging separately by the length of the glass edge.

We check the frame and glass before confirming the attachment detail. We also discuss curing and whether the work needs a return visit.

Can you install it on my existing windows?

We check your glass and frames first. Clear 14 Mil is intended for suitable interior, vertical flat glass. Madico restricts installations on damaged glass and triple- or quadruple-pane units, among other glazing types. Large panes, laminated glass and some other applications may need written approval.

Installation also requires a glass-surface temperature of at least 4 degrees C. We assess access and preparation needs before the written quote. The calculator cannot confirm whether your windows qualify.

What does the 10-year warranty cover?

The 10-year film warranty covers qualifying film defects, such as peeling, bubbling and adhesive failure, under the written warranty supplied with your installation. Keep your receipt and completed warranty details, including the product roll serial number.

Misuse, mechanical damage and improper installation are excluded. The film warranty is not a guarantee against broken glass or break-ins. Any thermal-stress glass-breakage or seal-failure protection has separate conditions, limits and shorter coverage periods.

Glass type and installation conditions affect eligibility, and some work needs manufacturer approval. The 10-year period stated here applies to the film. Your written quote must specify any separate coverage for anchoring and workmanship.

Read Madico's manufacturer warranty alongside the warranty supplied for your installation.

How should I look after the film?

Madico advises waiting at least 30 days before cleaning. Safety film can take several months to cure fully. Leave water bubbles alone during curing; do not puncture them.

Use a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft, clean cloth. Contact the installer if you are concerned about how the film looks or dries.

How do the prices work?

The total glass area of one project sets the rate for the whole area: under 50 sq ft is $25 per sq ft; 50 to under 100 sq ft is $22; 100 sq ft and over is $20. All prices are in Canadian dollars before applicable taxes.

The rates include Madico Clear 14 Mil film, installation and DOWSIL 995 anchoring on suitable glass and frames. Other films are quoted separately. The signed or agreed written quote confirms the measured area, work included and final price, including any work outside that scope.

Can I use my own measurements for an estimate?

Yes. Measure the visible glass inside the frame. Enter the total area, or choose "Help me calculate" and enter the width, height and number of panes. Add another row for each different size.

The result is a starting estimate. Call us with your city, approximate area and window details. We confirm the final measurements and installation conditions before giving you a written quote.

Are the project photos of the 14 mil installation?

The Midtown Toronto photo shows an earlier home project with film on a glass door and structural-silicone edge sealing. The case does not identify the film brand or thickness. Our 12 mil film project is another example of our work, using a different film thickness from the 14 mil option priced here.
