Owl Vision Solutions installs security window film for homes in Markham and the GTA. Film can help retain broken glass and add resistance at an opening. It does not make glass unbreakable, and the glass, frame and attachment all matter.
Start with the opening you want to protect
A glass door, a narrow side panel and a large living-room window are different jobs. Before choosing a product, tell the installer which opening concerns you and how it is used. A useful proposal should identify the glass, film and frame attachment, rather than just name a thickness.
What film contributes
Safety and security film is bonded to the glass. If the glass breaks, the film can help keep the pieces together. An appropriate attachment detail can connect the filmed glass to a suitable frame. That does not mean a window cannot be broken or forced open.
Promises to treat carefully
- A fixed number of minutes: do not apply a delay from another installation or test to every window.
- Bulletproof or burglar-proof glass: neither describes the residential service offered here.
- An insurance discount: ask your insurer; a film installation alone is not a discount commitment.
- One rating for all glazing: ask which glass and complete installation a cited test actually covers.
Combine it with your wider home-security plan
Film, locks, cameras and alarms have different roles. Consider the door hardware and the surrounding frame as well as the pane. A camera records supported views; it does not physically reinforce glass. The combination should suit the opening and your household.
What real work can show you
Our Midtown Toronto home project includes security film and structural-silicone edge sealing alongside cameras. It illustrates an installation, not a timed break-in test. The case does not identify a film thickness or certify the current 14 mil package.
Questions to ask before agreeing to the work
Which panes are included? How will the edges be attached? Is the existing glass compatible? Which warranty is supplied? Ask for those details in writing, along with the measured area and price.
