Owl Vision Solutions retrofitted access control onto the wood-framed entry doors of a GTA commercial space: a Camden electric strike mortised flush into the frame, an Akuvox reader, and four ways in for staff and visitors, without changing the look of the entrance.
The situation
The client wanted flexible, high-security access control on their front entrance. The catch was the doors: custom wood frames rather than standard metal ones. Fitting commercial-grade hardware into existing wood takes extra precision, clean routing and no mistakes, because a bad cut shows on the most visible door in the building.

Fitting an electric strike into a wood frame
We precision-mortised a heavy-duty Camden electric strike directly into the wood frame, so it sits flush with the surface instead of being surface-mounted on top.

Four ways to open the door
The strike is paired with an Akuvox access control reader. Staff and visitors can now unlock the door with:
- a PIN code
- a key fob
- the mobile app
- an interior push button for exiting

Steel or wood, the hardware has to fit
Modern steel frames are the easy case. Wood retrofits, older storefronts and custom doors are where careful mortising and routing matter, so the security hardware looks like it was always part of the door. If you have been told your door “won’t take” an electric lock, ask us to look at it before ruling it out.
