Owl Vision Solutions installs alarm and camera systems for GTA homeowners whose insurer requires a monitored alarm. Monitoring runs 24/7 through Global Link Response Centre, a ULC-certified monitoring centre, for $40 a month, and we provide an insurance certificate. Confirm specific insurer or ULC alarm certificate requirements with us before booking.
Got a letter from your insurance company asking for a monitored alarm before renewal? Send us the written requirement from your insurer. We design the system around what your insurer actually asked for, install it, connect the monitoring and give you the paperwork, so you can send it to your broker and move on.
Why Insurers Ask for an Alarm
Insurers usually ask for an alarm when a home carries more risk for them: a high-value home, valuable contents such as jewellery or art, a past claim, or a house that sits empty for long stretches. Sometimes the alarm is a condition of coverage; sometimes it earns a discount on the premium. Either way, what they usually care about is that the alarm is professionally monitored, not just a siren that goes off with nobody listening.
What Your Insurer Will Usually Want to See
- A monitored alarm: signals go to a monitoring station 24/7, not only to your phone
- An insurance certificate confirming the alarm is installed and monitored, which we provide
- Sometimes cameras on entry points, or smoke, CO or water-leak sensors on the same system
Every policy is worded differently, so the first step is simple: send us what your insurer wrote, or ask your broker exactly what they need. We’ll build the system around that and nothing extra.
How It Works
- Send us the requirement. A photo of the insurer’s letter is fine.
- Site visit. We check entry points, wiring and layout, and whether an existing panel can be reused.
- Installation. Wireless Ajax or wired panels, plus cameras if your insurer asks for them.
- Monitoring and certificate. We connect the system to Global Link Response Centre and give you the insurance certificate to send to your broker.
Monitored vs Self-Monitored: What Counts for Insurance
Self-monitored systems send alerts to your phone and have no monthly fee. They suit many homes, but most insurers won’t accept them as a monitored alarm, because nobody is guaranteed to respond. If insurance is the reason you’re installing, plan on professional monitoring. With us that is $40 a month through Global Link Response Centre, a ULC-certified monitoring centre. You can read more about both options on our alarm monitoring page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will a monitored alarm lower my home insurance?
Many Canadian insurers offer a discount for a professionally monitored alarm, but the amount depends on the company and the policy. Your broker can tell you the exact figure.
Does my insurer accept wireless alarms?
Generally yes. What matters is that the system is professionally monitored. We install Ajax wireless systems as well as wired panels.
I already have an old alarm. Do I need a new one?
Not always. If the panel still works, it may only need to be reconnected to a monitoring centre. We check it first and tell you what can stay.
Do I need cameras too?
Only if your insurer asks for them. Cameras on doors and driveways are still worth considering: they let you see what triggered an alarm, and in York Region police generally respond to alarms that have been verified.
How much does the alarm system cost?
Alarm systems start at $550, equipment and installation included, before HST. The final price depends on the brand, your location, the number of sensors and how difficult the install is. Professional monitoring is optional at $40 a month.
How much does monitoring cost?
Professional monitoring is $40 a month through Global Link Response Centre. There is no monthly fee if you choose to self-monitor, but most insurers won’t accept that.
Which areas do you serve?
We are based in Markham and serve Richmond Hill, Vaughan, North York, Scarborough, Toronto and the rest of the GTA.
