Owl Vision Solutions rebuilt a busy GTA restaurant’s network between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. so service never stopped: we untangled and labelled every cable, upgraded the rack, installed a business router, controller and access points, and set up a guest Wi-Fi with speed and time limits.
The problem
Like a lot of restaurants, this one had grown its network one device at a time: a modem here, a switch there, cameras, POS terminals and Wi-Fi all added by different people over the years. The result was the classic “spaghetti” closet. When something stopped working, nobody could tell which cable went where, and every fix took longer than it should.
A restaurant can’t go offline during service. Payment terminals, online orders and the kitchen all depend on the network, so the work had to happen after closing.

What we did, 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
- Untangled the wiring. Every run was traced, dressed neatly and brought into the rack.
- Labelled every line, so the next time something needs attention it takes minutes, not an afternoon.
- Upgraded the rack and reconfigured the network inside it.
- Installed TP-Link Omada business networking: a new router, a hardware controller and access points, all managed from one place.
- Set up a separate guest Wi-Fi with bandwidth limits, time controls and a login page, so customers can get online without touching the network the business runs on.

Why a separate guest network matters
If customers share the same Wi-Fi as the POS terminals and cameras, one busy evening of streaming can slow down payments, and a stranger’s device sits on the same network as your business systems. A guest network keeps them apart. Bandwidth limits stop one table from eating all the speed, and time controls mean the guest Wi-Fi only runs during business hours.
The result
The restaurant opened the next day as normal, with a clean rack, a network the owner can actually manage, and guest Wi-Fi that no longer competes with the business. Service was never interrupted.
Signs your business network needs the same treatment
- Nobody knows which cable goes to which device.
- Restarting “the box” is the standard fix.
- Customers and staff are on the same Wi-Fi.
- The equipment sits on the floor or on top of a freezer instead of in a rack.

Frequently asked questions
Can network work be done without closing the business?
Yes. This job ran from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., after service, so the restaurant opened the next day as usual. We schedule disruptive work outside business hours when a business can’t afford downtime.
Why keep guest Wi-Fi separate from the business network?
A separate guest network keeps customer phones away from point-of-sale terminals, cameras and office computers. It also lets you limit speed and hours, so guests can’t slow down the systems the business runs on.
